Fahadh Faasil wins the best character actor award for ‘Kumabalangi Nights’

Fahadh Faasil played a supporting character in the movie. He stepped into the shoes of Shammi, a control freak husband, who appears to be normal in the eyes of the society. The character Shammi was an antagonist in the movie but lacks the usual crookedness and cruelty of villain characters. Although the character had a brief space in the movie Fahadh Faasil managed to awe the cinephiles with his energetic performance.‘Kumbalangi Nights’ is directed by debutant Madhu C Narayanan. The movie had actors Soubin Shahir, Shane Nigam, Anna Ben, and Fahadh Faasil essaying the lead roles. Nazriya Nazim, Dileesh Pothan, and Syam Pushkaran have produced the movie for which national award-winning scriptwriter Syam Pushkaran crafted the screenplay. Cinematographer Shyju Khalid cranked the camera while Saiju Sreedharan handled the editing of the film. The movie attracted massive positive reviews from both the critic and the audience. Apart from that, ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ also won the award for Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value and Sushin Shyam won the award for best music director, for his compositions in the movie.Meanwhile, the 50th Kerala State Film Awards was announced today by Cultural minister AK Balan. Cinematographer and director Madhu Ambat is the chairman of the jury. Filmmakers Salim Ahmed and Abrid Shine, cinematographer Vipin Mohan, editor L Bhoominathan, sound engineer S Radhakrishnan, playback singer Lathika, actress Jomol, writer Benyamin and Chalachithra Academy member secretary Ajoy Chandran are the jury members.
