Fahadh Faasil raises concerns over Malayalam cinema's struggle for OTT recognition: The industry lacks solid backing

Fahadh Faasil recently shed light on the challenges faced by the Malayalam film industry in securing recognition on OTT platforms, despite its stellar reputation for quality content.


In a candid conversation with Baradwaj Rangan for Galatta Plus, Fahadh discussed the industry's ongoing struggle to gain solid backing from streaming platforms, emphasizing the need for greater support and visibility.


As a prominent figure in both acting and film production, Fahadh highlighted the persistent issue of Malayalam cinema's limited presence on OTT platforms. Despite the industry's significant growth, Fahadh noted that securing OTT deals remains a challenge, hindering the reach and exposure of Malayalam films to wider audiences.

The 'Aavesham' actor emphasized that Malayalam films often face hurdles in securing OTT deals, necessitating successful theatrical runs to attract streaming platforms' attention.

Highlighting a stark contrast, Fahadh noted that over 80 percent of films from other Indian film industries secure OTT deals effortlessly, often before production commences. He highlighted the disparity in opportunities, with Malayalam films struggling to secure similar recognition and exposure on digital platforms.

Meanwhile, Fahadh Faasil's most anticipated action drama, 'Aavesham', is receiving good reviews from audiences all over.
