After entertaining the audience with the movies ‘Chapters’ and ‘Arikil Oraal’,
filmmaker Sunil Ibrahim
is back with his next titled ‘
Roy
’. The filmmaker doesn’t let go of his propensity for the thriller genre, and this time he is about to entertain them with a unique story.
Suraj Venjaramoodu has roped in to play the lead in ‘Roy’ and the movie will go on floors soon. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, ‘Roy’ director
Sunil Ibrahim spills the beans about the movie.
“The movie is about a couple, but it has thriller elements too. ‘Roy’ is a family thriller. The movie revolves around the titular character. Roy is an introvert, a bit strange and silent and his wife has a different perspective about life. The movie will explore their ‘peculiar’ relationship and also the incidents that take place in their life later,” Sunil Ibrahim said detailing about the crux of the movie.
The filmmaker also emphasizes that the upcoming movie will be different from his past works. “In ‘Chapters’ I tried to give a unique treatment to the story, whereas in ‘Arikil Oraal’ I worked on the story. ‘Roy’ focuses more on the emotions of the couple and their ‘peculiar’ bond,” the filmmaker clarified.
Speaking about casting Suraj Venjaramoodu to play the title role, the filmmaker said, “Roy is the protagonist in the movie, so the movie entirely focuses on the character. Although we have seen versatile characters of Suraj Venjaramoodu in the past years, most of the time he was playing a character we all knew or could relate to. But Roy is different. Be it the looks of the character or the mannerisms, Roy would stand out for its mysterious character traits. ‘Roy’ will bring out more dimensions of Suraj Venjaramoodu’s acting chops.”
Sunil Ibrahim also shares that they are planning to commence the shoot by August 28. “80 percent of the movie will be shot indoors, in Kochi, following all the health protocols issued by the government. And the remaining portions will be filmed in a controlled environment,” he said.
The filmmaker signs off with high hopes that ‘Roy’ releases in the cinemas once it reopens.
