The Malayalam industry is constantly trying on new experiments and its recent attempt at a claustrophobic thriller with ‘Udal’ worked well among the audience. The Indrans starrer got much appreciation when it was released in theatres and as per the reports, the film is getting an OTT release on a popular platform and the date is reportedly scheduled for August 20.

Written and directed by the newbie filmmaker Ratheesh Raghunandan, ‘Udal told a very dark and intense story that was set within the limits of a house. The film was theatrically released on May 20 this year and received several positive responses from the audience who even called the Dhyan Sreenivasan starrer ‘The sleeper hit of this year’.
Indrans played a terrifying antagonist role in the dark thriller and the actor also gained much positive feedback from the audience. Actress Durga Krishna also got much adulation for her role in the film as the character named Shiny.
As the film got much appreciation from the audience and turned out to be a success, the makers are planning to remake the movie in Bollywood, and according to the sources the same director of ‘Udal’, Ratheesh Reghunandan will be donning the director’s cap for the Bollywood remake.
Ratheesh Reghunandan penned down the script for ‘Udal’ and the music was composed by William Francis who is best known for the films ‘Mohan Kumar Fans’, ‘Kettiyollaanu Ente Maalakha’, ‘Star’, and ‘Sathyam Mathrame Bodhippikkoo’. The editing section of ‘Udal’ was handled by Nishad Yousef and cinematography by Manoj Pillai.
‘Udal’ had an ensemble cast and the actors Indrans, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Durga Krishna and Jude Anthany Joseph played significant roles in the claustrophobic thriller.
