Dulquer Salmaan says he had a tough time growing up with his name
Actors Dulquer Salmaan and Vidya Balan came together as guests recently on Malayali stand-up comedian Abish Mathew's show 'Son of Abish.'
The three Malayalis had a fun time, sharing their pre-industry experiences, growing up years, careers and the like. While on the show, Dulquer revealed that he had a tough time growing up with his name, as people would always find it difficult to read it right or understand the correct pronunciation. Even the show host Abish Mathew confessed that he used to spell it D-u-l-k-e-r, at first. Apparently, Dulquer's name is Arabic and it means warrior.
He also said that while studying in the US, he used to work in food courts and American boys always used to steal his name badge. "They felt it would be a great conversation starter with women," said the actor.
