Tovino Thomas has been signing for the past few years; the actor has chosen a wide array of movies belonging to different genres and his latest project helmed by
Dr Biju
is just an extension of that process.
It's the first time
Tovino
is working with the award-winning director, who had helmed movies such as Veettilekkula Vazhi, Perariyathavar and Kaadu Pookkunna Neram.
The upcoming movie will be different from his previous ventures as it would be a " surrealistic
political
movie", says the filmmaker. "Tovino plays the lead in the movie and in it he meets Adolf
Hitler
, Leo
Tolstoy
, Vladimir
Lenin
and Dr BR
Ambedkar. It's not a period film but has a surrealistic element to it. The conversations and incidents that happen between Tovino and the four personalities take the story forward," says the director.
Dr Biju also says that the team will start shooting only after the pandemic is over as it requires outdoor shoots. "The reason for announcing the movie now though is that we know it would be hard to find people who match the physical appearances of Hitler, Tolstoy, Ambedkar and Lenin, and can act well. So, we want to start the casting process and then groom them for the parts," says the director, whose previous release was Veyilmarangal that hit theatres a few weeks before the lockdown.
Meanwhile, Tovino has a host of projects lined up. However, he is first expected to start work on Rohith VS' Kala. His superhero movie Minnal Murali, which is directed by Basil Joseph, also has a few portions remaining to be shot.
