Dr. Biju announces his next ‘Papa Buka’
Acclaimed filmmaker Dr. Biju has announced his next project, titled ‘Papa Buka’. Dr. Biju announced the film and also stated that it is being co-produced by artists from two nations: India and Papua New Guinea.
Ace filmmaker Pa. Ranjith is presenting ‘Papa Buka’, and the upcoming film will have Ritabhari Chakraborty and actor Prakash Bare in the lead roles. Three-time Grammy-winner Ricky Kej is the music composer for the film. Yedhu Radhakrishnan is the director of photography. The film will go on floors by mid-July this year (2024) in Papua New Guinea.
In a note shared on Facebook, Dr. Biju said, “I am happy to announce my new film project titled “Papa Buka," a pioneering cinematic collaboration between Papua New Guinea and India. This film marks the first major co-production project between the two nations. Renowned director Pa. Ranjith presents the film under Neelam Productions along with actor Prakash Bare's SILICON MEDIA, co-producing the film with NAFA Productions (Native Arts and Fashion Academy) in Papua New Guinea. Pa Ranjith, Cathy Angeline Mereun Sike, and Prakash Bare will be the producers of the film, with the execution managed by Parul Agrawal and Adhya Prasad. The cast of the film includes celebrated Hindi/Bengali actress Ritabhari Chakraborty and renowned South Indian actor Prakash Bare, along with prominent talents from Papua New Guinea. The score will be composed by three-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej, further elevating the film's appeal. The DOP is Yedhu Radhakrishnan. The project was officially announced by the Honorable Shri. Inbasekar Sundaramurti, High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands, and Mrs. Noelene Taula Wunum (NAFA), along with key project members Parul Agrawal (executive producer), Adhya Prasad (production controller), and Indian film personnel Davis Manuel (film editor) and Dileep Daz (chief production designer) in attendance at Papua New Guinea. Principal photography of the film is scheduled to commence in mid-July 2024 in Papua New Guinea."
