Even though the Basil Joseph - Nazriya starrer mystery thriller ‘Sookshmadarshini’ is raking in good numbers at the box office with rave reviews, the team is grappling under the issue of online piracy.
Recently the Basil Joseph starrer was leaked on YouTube. Although the print was taken down immediately, it got around 1.1k views. This follows an incident where the movie’s HD Print was leaked on Telegram application and was taken down by the anti-piracy team.
Talking to On Manorama, the director MC Jithin said that just when the HD print was taken down from Telegram, hardly four days ago they were notified that the mystery film has been leaked on YouTube. “We tried to remove the print at the earlies, but then it had around 10,000 views already. It was so surprising to see the movie was leaked again yesterday,” the ‘Sookshmadarshini director said.
Even during such a phase, ‘Sookshmadarshini’ has managed to mint more than Rs 50 crores.
Meanwhile, Tovino Thomas’ superhit film ‘ARM’ had also faced such an issue where the director Jithin Laal shared the news regarding the leakage of the film online. Sharing the video of a stranger watching the online print of ‘ARM’, the director penned an Instagram note that read, “A friend send me this .. heart breaking… vere onnum parayan ella … telegram vazhi ARM kanendavar kanatte … alathe enth parayana (A friend send me this .. heart breaking…I have nothing more to say…Those who watched the film via Telegram…let them watch…what else can I say?).”
Also Tovino Thomas reacted to the same in a media interaction. "The visuals in the leaked online version are shot without any shake. It is impossible to achieve such clarity without the knowledge of the theatre owners. Shooting the whole film inside a theatre with a handheld phone or camera, not using a tripod, is simply beyond human capacity,” the ‘ARM’ actor said.
