‘Dominic and the ladies’ purse’ box office collections day 8: Mammootty’s film mints only Rs 25 lakhs

Gautham Vasudev Menon’s recently released investigative drama movie ‘Dominic and the ladies’ purse’ has started its downward trend at the box office.

According to the Sacnilk website, the Mammootty starrer collected Rs 7.87 crores from India in 8 days and the worldwide collections amount to Rs 14.5 crores. The Indian gross collections for the movie in 8 days stand at Rs 7.45 crores and the overseas collections are Rs 7.05 crores.

The Malayalam net box office collections stand at Rs 7.87 crores in 8 days and on day 8 the early estimates say that the film made a high of only Rs 25 crores. This shows a massive dip in KBO collections which was consistent for the past few days. The movie minted Rs 1.75 crores on its opening day and was followed by Rs 1.2 crores, Rs 1.65 crore, Rs 1.8 crore, Rs 47 lakhs, Rs 40 lakhs, Rs 35 lakhs, and Rs 25 lakhs. This downtrend in collections could affect the movie’s hold in theatres.


Our ETimes exclusive rating for the movie is 3 stars out of 5 and our review reads, “The film is layered and so are the characters. Gokul Suresh matches Dominic's vibe and so does Viji Venkatesh. They are like two satellites around the star. Of course, the star performer after Mammootty is Sushmitha Bhatt. She is spectacular. There are so many characters going in and out but the story warrants it. The exciting climax makes up for any lethargy one may feel at any point in the film. That said, there are also plot points like the identity of an individual -who do they identify as ? There is no judgement which is fair and hopefully, it is looked at through the same lens by the larger public rather than being used as a tool to discriminate. Darbuka Siva's music is fresh and interesting. Vijay Yesudas sang a very peppy track in it with ThirumaLi joining him with Sathyaprakash and Pavithra Chari.”
