Although the Malayalam industry is now stacked with several content-oriented films and most of them are getting good reviews from both critics and the general audience, some of the filmmakers are indeed unhappy about paid reviewers who are allegedly destroying their creation on purpose.

Director Rosshan Andrrews recently said to the media that there are some YouTube reviewers who take money from the producers and publish negative reviews. According to the ‘Saturday Night’ director, there exist some reviewers who take even 2 lakhs and publish positive reviews for a film.

Rosshan Andrrews further said to the media that the theatre owners should ban YouTube reviewers from the theatre and avoid them from taking audience reactions during the show. The director also said that those YouTube reviewers are only looking for revenue from the streaming platform and that has led to the massacre of good films. The director has also reportedly requested producer and theatre owner Antony Perumbavoor to ban such people from theatres.

On the other hand, netizens are against Rosshan Andrrews’ comments as they are claiming that reviews are good for helping them choose a good film to watch over the weekend rather than spending money on something unworthy. Netizens also comment that Rosshan Andrrews’ recent outing ‘Saturday Night’ was not up to the mark and has indeed disappointed them.

Meanwhile, it was in the last week that the Mollywood director Alphonse Puthren hit back at the negative reviews for his movie ‘Gold’, saying that he can see a lot of hate and jealousy in most of the reviews.
