Director Lingusamy opens up about his issue with Mammootty while doing 'Aanandham': 'You know that ego drives them'

Director Lingusamy and Mollywood superstar Mammootty collaborated for the Tamil film Aanandham in 2001, which also marked the debut film of the director. It was rumoured that the duo had issues with each other during the shooting of this film.

In a recent interview with a youtube channel, Lingusamy said that the issues might have happened because of him, as it was his first film. As a young filmmaker who started out, he was particular about getting certain things right, but senior actors like Mammootty have acted in so many films. Lingusamy could have listened to his advice because the legendary actor’s anger is just for the moment.


Lingusamy revealed that he recently had a chat with Mammootty after watching the trailer of his horror thriller ‘Bramayugam’. “Who can do a film like Kaathal: The Core? Even he asked me the same thing. ‘Who will do the film there? Is there anyone who can do it?’ You know that ego drives them. You need it. Only if it’s there, he is Mammootty,” the filmmaker stated.

The director also talked about an experience he had while producing Kamal Haasan’s ‘Uttama Villain’. The movie caused a huge financial loss for his production house, but the actor promised him that they would do a movie together to compensate for it.
