‘Aavesham’ director Jithu Madhavan reveals why Ranga’s backstory is not shown in the movie

Director Jithu Madhavan's second directorial venture, 'Aavesham,' featuring Fahadh Faasil, has swiftly ascended to the ranks of 'Vishu winner' and secured a coveted spot in the esteemed Rs 100 crore club.

Even with good responses, there is a section of the audience who are left dissatisfied with the lack of depth in the film's plot, especially the character Ranga’s backstory development.

According to On Manorama Jithu Madhavan intentionally took the decision not to unveil Ranga's backstory from the film's storyline.

Jithu Madhavan said that showing Ranga’s origin may look like a cliche. He further said that Fahadh’s Ranga character is filtered through the lens of the boys in ‘Aavesham’ which seems like a unique storytelling pattern.

'Aavesham' revolves around the intertwined fates of three college students—Bibi, Santhan, and Aju—who forge an alliance with Ranga and his gang in a bid to confront their formidable seniors, leading to unforeseen consequences and gripping revelations.

Looking back to Jithu Madhavan’s ‘Romancham’, Jithu Madhavan has applied the same storytelling pattern where he cleverly hides the backstory of the ghost in the movie which adds up to the intrigue and horror. With ‘Romancham’ and ‘Aavesham’ turning out to be successful, the audiences are eagerly waiting for the upcoming films of Jithu Madhavan.
