Devi Ajith was once a visible presence on TV, where she was an anchor for more than a decade. The small screen celebrity, who shifted focus to her boutique post marriage, has now made a comeback to films with V K Prakashs Trivandrum Lodge. Im glad my comeback happened through this film and this character. I play Dhwanis friend, a very bold woman, who is well-educated and employed.
But she goes in for a Class IX man for a husband, just because he is rich and good in bed. Divya shares thats exactly the kind of role she wanted, a small though important and performance-oriented one.
Anoop Menon, who wrote the script of
Trivandrum Lodge, is a friend and when he spoke to her about this character, she didnt think twice. Things have definitely changed in the industry since she left, she says. VKPs set was so informal, it didnt feel like a set at all. Unlike in the past, there was no prompting, which actually helps us to focus on the shoot. Also, there is no divide between the main actors, supporting actors and the crew. Everyones equal on the sets.
