Desire is not about Protima Bedi: R Sarath
Malayalam film director R Saraths bilingual, The Desire The Journey of a Woman, which is set for release shortly, is not about the life of Protima Bedi, as earlier reports may have suggested.
The story revolves round the life of an Odissi dancer. The director clarifies, My film is not about the life of Protima Bedi. As an artiste, she has inspired me.

Her dance was an inspiration, other than that, the story has nothing to do with her or her life, says Sarath.
The film has completed its rounds at various international fests and the team is now looking at a theatrical outing in both India and China. Many people at the festivals have already watched the film, but nobody mentioned that the film was about Protima either, because it is not about her life, says Sarath.
Desire is a love story that explores relationships and was taken based on Buddhas concept of desire, says Sarath. While Shilpa Shetty plays the dancer, Chinese actor Xia Yu essays the role of a painter.
