Comparison with Fahadh Faasil is inevitable: Krish Satar

Says the actor, who reprises the role played by Fahadh in the Tamil remake of the hit Malayalam movie, 22 Female Kottayam
Comparison with Fahadh Faasil is inevitable: Krish Satar
Krish J Satar, son of veteran actors Jayabarathi and Satar, is only a film old in Mollywood.
But already he is on a roll. After making a commendable debut with Siddique’s Ladies & Gentleman, the young actor is making inroads in other film industries down south. He will reprise Fahadh Faasil’s role from the hit movie, 22 Female Kottayam, in its Tamil remake titled Malini 22 Palayamkottai to be directed by Sripriya Rajkumar.

In a chat with Kochi Times, the actor talks about the challenges ahead, future projects and more…
Just a film old and you have already bagged a dream debut in Tamil and Telugu...
I feel blessed to have started my career with stalwarts like Siddique, Mohanlal, Mamta Mohandas and Meera Jasmine. A lead role, that too in the remake of a path-breaking movie like 22 Female Kottayam, which will be made as Malini 22 Palayamkottai in Tamil and Telugu, is more than I could ask for. I consider myself lucky to have got an opportunity to work with some of the big production houses so early in my career.
Tell us more about Malini 22 Palayamkottai
I will be playing Fahadh’s role here and Nithya Menen plays the title role. I have heard that she is a bundle of talent and I’m looking forward to working with her. We will be shooting simultaneously for the Tamil-Telugu bilingual. The movie won’t be an exact replica of the original, and the script has been tweaked to make it more appealing to the Tamil and Telugu audience. With this, I will officially become a south actor.

Fahadh was lauded for his performance in 22FK. Are you nervous about playing a role immortalised by him?
I’m a big fan of Fahadh. He is a fantastic artiste and I consider myself lucky to reprise him. There will be comparisons for sure but I can’t do anything about it. I will try to do justice to that character. But comparisons are inevitable in the industry; not just for remakes, but also when two artistes do the same genres.
Does your mother being an actress herself help you choose scripts?
My mother doesn’t sit with me while reading scripts. Instead, I give her a gist of it. She will give me advice based on her vast experience. Then I decide what to take up and what not to. You cannot predict the success of a film. So, I go by my gut feeling.
So, what’s next?
There is Subil Surendran’s Malayalam-Tamil bilingual, Kalkki and another Malayalam project that I have signed up, which will be announced in August. Though offers are coming, I am taking it slow. I am trying to find my own space in the industry. Since I am a beginner, I want to experiment with various genres.
