Anoop Menon’s upcoming film ‘Checkmate’ is set to release on August 8, and the makers have just unveiled the trailer. Directed by Ratish Sekhar, the film is set in the US.
As the title ‘Checkmate’ implies, the story revolves around the strategic moves one must make to progress. The trailer begins with a monologue from Anoop Menon’s character, discussing the human desire for power and how it inevitably leads to greed when the wrong person gets it. Lal plays a crucial role in the film, and so is Rekha Harindran. The recently released trailer suggests that the film is a thriller.

Anoop Menon, Lal, and Rekha Harindran play the lead roles in ‘Checkmate’. Actors Raji Arun, Sowmya Rajan, Shyam Krishna, and Viswam Nair, are also part of the cast.
While launching the first look poster earlier, Anoop Menon said, “First look of the most expensive film of my career...entirely shot in New York and different parts of America this is the love child of a group of super talented American Malayalees… let us cheer for that young, vibrant youth.”
On the technical front, Ratish Sekhar has crafted the story and screenplay, directed the film, and also contributed to the music and cinematography. The original score is done by Ruslan Perezhilo.
