Charlie remake in Tamil, Bengali and Marathi
Dulquer Salmaan's Charlie has been receiving appreciation from across film industries in India for its unique characterisations and artsy-craftsy settings.
With the film also winning multiple State Awards this year for acting, direction and screenplay, it has become a sought-after tale for remakes too. The film, directed by Martin Prakkat, will soon be remade in Tamil, Bengali and Marathi industries. While rumours are rife that Dulquer Salmaan will essay the lead character in Tamil as well, the movie's director confirms that the casting is not finalised yet.
'The artistes have not been decided yet. The right to remake the film has been taken by makers from Tamil, Bengali and Marathi as of now,' says Martin Prakkat. Will the filmmaker don the cap of the helmsman again for the project in Tamil? Martin clarifies, 'I was asked to do it, but nothing has been finalised.'
An experimental film scripted by Unni R and Martin, Charlie had actress Parvathy as the female lead. The movie was also the last project in which the late actress Kalpana starred in Malayalam.
