Everybody wants a piece of the Big B, no doubt. The last time his name was associated with the Malayalam film industry was when there were talks of director Blessy having approached the Bollywood star to play Mohanlal's role in the remake of his award-winning film, 'Pranayam'. The latest Amitabh Bachchan-Mollywood connection comes in through filmmaker Revathy S Varmha.
The director, who has already worked with Jaya Bachchan on her soon-to-be-released Hindi film
Aap Ke Liye Hum, says she set out to make
Maad Dad in Malayalam because its Hindi version, apparently starring Big B, was postponed.
Meanwhile, the Malayalam film
Maad Dad, starring Lal, Meghana Raj and Nazriya Nazim, is getting ready for release this year. But Revathy tells us, 'The initial plan was to make this film in Hindi with
Amitabh Bachchan and Khushboo playing lead roles. I had discussed the script with Bachchan sir in 2010 and he was on board. But because of date issues, it had to be postponed and I started work on its Malayalam version. However, groundwork for the Hindi film will start all over again this December after the Malayalam film hits the screens.'
Interestingly, this is the second time Revathy has postponed initial plans of a Hindi film to work on the same script in another language. Her debut was to have the Bollywood version of the Tamil film June R, in 2006, before actress
Jyothika convinced her to work on the Tamil movie first.
