Mohanlal took to his X timeline on Tuesday to introduce Baiju Santhosh’s character, Murukan, in the highly anticipated political action drama ‘L2: Empuraan (L2E)’, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Sharing the update, Mohanlal wrote, “Character No.18 Baiju Santhosh as Murukan in #L2E #EMPURAAN,” along with a link to a YouTube video featuring Baiju Santhosh discussing his role.
In the video, Baiju Santhosh reminisced about Lucifer and the impact of his character, Murukan. “I don’t think anybody has forgotten the movie Lucifer and its characters, especially Stephachayan and Murukan. Murukan was a character I truly enjoyed portraying. And after a long gap of five years, we are reuniting once again through Empuraan,” he said.
Expressing gratitude to the film’s core team, he added, “I would like to thank Mohanlal, Antony Perumbavoor, Prithviraj, Murali Gopy, Sujith Vassudev, and associate director Vava. As Empuraan arrives as Malayalam cinema’s biggest film, Murukan is also making his return. And of course, with a touch of ‘decency.’”
Meanwhile, the makers recently shared the character look poster for Saniya Iyappan as Jhanvi in the movie. In the video shared by the makers, Saniya Iyappan said, “Now five years later, with Empuraan coming, I am back before you as Jhanvi. After my debut film, the second project which is took up was a big -budget production - Lucifer. And after that I never expected I would get the chance to be part of the it’s second installment as well.” She further said, “But Empuraan’ was a completely new and fresh experience for me. And it’s always a pleasure working with Prithviraj.”
Hitting the big screens on March 27, ‘L2: Empuraan’ has created much hype among the audiences who are eagerly waiting for the comeback of Mohanlal. The film is the third directorial venture of Prithviraj Sukumaran.
