'Athiradi' shoot wrap: Tovino Thomas, Basil Joseph, and Vineeth Sreenivasan gear up for May 14 release

Tovino Thomas, Basil Joseph, and Vineeth Sreenivasan starrer ‘Athiradi’ is set for release. The team has now wrapped up the shoot. On Sunday, January 25, the makers of the film confirmed that they have wrapped up the shoot.

Basil Joseph shared a video from the sets and captioned it, “Pack up for #athiradi. See you in theatres.”

All about ‘Athiradi’

‘Athiradi’ is set to hit the big screens on May 14. The film is helmed by Arun Anirudhan, known for co-scripting the superhero film ‘Minnal Murali’. ‘Athiradi’ features Tovino Thomas, Basil Joseph, and Vineeth Sreenivasan in the lead roles. The film is billed as an out-and-out entertainer. The film also has Darshana Rajendran, Zarin Shihab, and Riya Shibu in supporting roles. The makers had earlier dropped the character posters featuring Tovino Thomas and Basil Joseph.

Basil Joseph plays the role of Samkutty aka Sam Boy, a college-going young man, in the film. His character poster went viral for the jaw-dropping makeover. Tovino Thomas will essay the role of Sreekuttan Vellayani in the film.

The makers had earlier planned to release it during Onam; however, they have now changed it to April.

On the other hand, Tovino Thomas is basking in the win at the 55th Kerala State Film Awards. He received Special Jury Mentions for his performance in ‘Ajayante Randam Moshanam’. He shared the special mention with Asif Ali.

Mammootty, who won the Best Actor award, appreciated Tovino Thomas and Asif Ali, and celebrated the win together. “They are not even a millimetre behind me. They are with me. I may have received the award because I am older in age,” Mammootty said.

• Meanwhile, Basil Joseph was last seen in ‘Parasakthi’, directed by Sudha Kongara. The Tamil film features Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role.
