Asif Ali’s ‘Kunjeldho’ gets a release date; makers confirm a theatrical release

The confirmation of Mohanlal’s big-ticket release ‘Marakkar - Arabikkadalinte Simham’ on August 12 has come as a hope for the Malayalam film industry. And it is expected that the government will give a nod for the theatres to reopen by August in full seating capacity.

Meanwhile, ‘Kunjeldho’ is the maiden directorial venture of popular radio jockey Mathukutty. Asif Ali has roped in to play the lead character of a college student. The 35-year old actor will be appearing in a young avatar for the film and the makers have earlier shared a glimpse of it.

Helmed by Mathukutty, 'Kunjeldho' is bankrolled by Prasobh Krishna and Suvin K Varkey, under the banner of Little Big Films. Apart from Asif Ali, the movie will also feature Sudheesh, Siddique, Arjun Gopal, and Rajesh Sharma, Kottayam Pradeep, and Mithun M Das in some pivotal roles. Newcomer Gopika Udayanan will be seen playing the female lead. Vineeth Sreenivasan has been roped in as the creative director.

On the technical side, Swaroop Philip has cranked the lens and Ranjan Abraham is the editor. Shan Rahman has composed the music with Santhosh Varma and Aswathi Sreekanth has penned the lyrics.
