Asif Ali, Anoop Menon reunite for BTech
After five years, Asif Ali and Anoop Menon will be seen together in actor-turned-filmmaker Mridul Nair’s directorial debut B Tech.
The “fun campus film” is based on many real-life incidents and is set entirely in Bengaluru, says Mridul, adding that the movie will have the duo playing extremely different roles from their previous outing together such as I Love Me, 916 and Traffic.
While Asif plays a youngster, Anoop will essay the role of a father. However, not of Asif’s character, the director adds. “Anoopettan’s character holds a dignified space in the society and is a powerful person. The movie would also see him in a stylish avatar,” says Mridul, who has acted in films such as Beautiful, Trivandrum Lodge and Kili Poyi.
The team are planning to start shoot by December end as they “want the foggy conditions in the city for the film”.
Anoop too is excited to work with Mridul for the latter’s directorial debut. “I have known him for a long time and have worked with him in Beautiful and Trivandrum Box. Vinay Govind, Mridul, Jayasurya and I were main troublemakers on the sets. So, we have that vibe,” he says.
The actor, who will next be seen in Kamal’s Aami, has been busy travelling for most of this year and is also looking forward to the release of his travelogue titled Bhramayatrikan. “The book chronicles my journeys in China, Russia, Europe, Malaysia, Singapore and all over India,” he says, adding that he is also scripting his next venture that will go on floors by start of 2018.
