Arvind Swamy reveals he has been a fan of Soubin Shahir since ‘Kumbalangi Nights’: ‘I liked his works even before ‘Manjummel Boys’

Karthi and Arvind Swamy starrer ‘Meiyazhagan’ hit theaters yesterday (September 27), and the movie is winning hearts for its emotional depth. Directed by C. Prem Kumar, the movie boasts music from Govind Vasantha. In a recent chat, Arvind Swamy and Karthi shared their admiration for Malayalam cinema and the movies they watched recently.

While talking about the recent film he watched, Arvind Swamy told The Cue Studio that he had watched ‘Manjummel Boys’ recently, but his favorite is the 2019 film ‘Kumbalangi Nights’. “My favorite film in the last few years is ‘Kumbalangi Nights,’ the 'Bombay' actor said, to which Karthi agreed, “Yes, it is a beautiful movie. There are a lot of beautiful films from Malayalam.”

Arvind mentioned, “I'm a big fan of Soubin Shahir, even before ‘Manjummel Boys.’ I like his works.” Karthi added that Soubin is a director, actor, and multi-talented person.

Directed by Madhu C. Narayanan, ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ became the talk of the town for its impeccable plot, music, and cast. The film also featured Shane Nigam, Fahadh Faasil, and Sreenath Bhasi, along with debutants Anna Ben, Grace Antony, and Mathew Thomas in key roles, alongside Soubin Shahir.

The 'Roja' actor further added that Soubin has a unique talent for bringing certain elements to the screen with his presence, even if it is for a short time. He also talked about Mammootty’s ‘Bramayugam’ and ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam.’ They both agreed that Mammootty is a legendary actor who brings new experimental movies with courage and talent.

Apart from Arvind Swamy and Karthi, ‘Meiyazhagan’ also features Rajkiran, Sri Divya, Swathi Konde, Devadarshini, Jayaprakash, Sriranjani, Ilavarasu, Karunakaran, and Saran Shakthi in key roles.
