Arjun Ashokan's Member Rameshan 9th Ward poster has a happy vibe

It is good to hear any cinema news in these bleak times with film work almost at a standstill. But birthdays seem to be a happy time to make film announcements. Dulquer Salmaan’s birthday came with the announcement of a trilingual Army film, and a song and trailer from upcoming films, including Kurup and Maniyaraille Ashokan.

Arjun Ashokan’s birthday on Monday too, was a treat for film fans with a glimpse being given into the actor’s upcoming projects. Apart from that of Super Sharanya, which is being directed by Girish AD of Thaneermathan Dinangal fame, his much-anticipated

While the title suggests that Arjun Ashokan might be a panchayat member, the poster shows him,

Chemban Vinod

and

Sabareesh

, sharing a laugh, while taking a break from their painting job.

The film, written and directed by debutant Anto Jose Pereira and Aby Treesa Paul, also has Indrans and Sabumon, among others. The female lead has not yet been announced. Eldho Issac is the cinematographer and Kailas Menon of Theevandi fame is the composer.

This is Arjun Ashokan’s first film as the lead, though he had pivotal roles in Unda, June and Trance. He also has other exciting projects including Rajeev Ravi’s Thuramukham, which has Nivin Pauly in the lead, Ajagajantharam with Antony Varghese, Thattassery Koottam and Nancy Rani, which was one of the first films to resume shoot when the restrictions were lifted.

Nancy Rani, directed by Joseph Manu James, has Ahaana Krishna in the lead and also features Aju Varghese.
