Arjun Ashokan plays a painter in this political satire
The latest posters of Arjun Ashokan's Member Rameshan 9-aam Ward reflected the current mood of the State with the elections around the corner. The posters had Arjun, Sabumon Abdusamad, Mammukoya and Johny Antony as contestants representing their parties and seeking votes.
The movie is scripted and directed by debutants Anto Jose Pereira and Aby Treesa Paul. Talking about the film, Anto says, "It is a family entertainer that is also a political satire, which would remind the audience of movies such as Sandesham and Sthalathe Pradhana Payyans."
On the characters in it, the filmmaker says, "Arjun plays a painter named O M Rameshan, who works for Chemban Vinod's character. He belongs to a normal household and lives with his parents and sister. Indrans plays his father. Sabumon, Mammukoya and Johny Antony play local politicians. The movie, set against a rural backdrop, and tells the story of the villagers there and how an incident brings a twist in Rameshan's life."
Gayathri Ashok, who starred in Ladoo, plays the female lead, while Sminu Sijo of Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha plays another prominent character.
The team had finished shooting for the film in mid March, a few days before the lockdown was announced. "So, we have technically been waiting for about eight months for its release. But we aren't complaining because the entire industry has been facing the same issue. As far as we are concerned, the lockdown gave us more time to work on the post production of our debut directorial, which wouldn't have been possible in normal circumstances," concludes Anto.
