‘Ariyippu’ and ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’ to compete at the 27th IFFK

Malayalam movies ‘Ariyippu’ and ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’ have been chosen to compete in the International Competition section for the 27th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), which will be held in December this year.

‘Ariyippu (Declaration)’ directed by Mahesh Narayanan features Kunchacko Boban and Divya Prabha in the lead roles and tells the story of a Keralite couple working in Delhi, aspiring to go abroad for a better life. On the other hand, ‘Nanpakal Nerath Mayakkam (Like an Afternoon Dream)’ has Mammootty in the lead role and is helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellisery.

The 27th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala will be held from 9 to 16 December 2022.

IFFK will be screening 12 Malayalam films in the Malayalam cinema today category. Sanal Kumar Sasidharan's 'Vazhakku' (The Quarrel), Thamar KV's 'Ayirathonnu Nunakal' (Thousand and One Lies), Amal Prasi's 'Bakki Vannavar' (The Leftovers), Kamal KM's 'Pada', Pratheesh Prasad's 'Normal', Aravind H's 'Great Depression', Rarish G's 'Vettappattikalum Ottakkarum' (The Hounds and The Runners), Sidhartha Siva's 'Aanu' (Yes), Satish Babusenan and Santosh Babusenan's 'Bharthavum Bharyayum Maricha Randu Makkalum' (The Husband The Wife and Their Two Dead Sons), Priyanandan TR's 'Dhabari Kuruvi', Akhil Anilkumar, Kunjila Mascillamani, Francies Louis, Jeo Baby, and Jithin Issac Thomas's anthology 'Freedom Fight', and Indu VS' '19 (1) (a)’ will be screened this year.

A committee consisting of filmmakers Sherry, Ranjith Sankar, Anuraj Manohar, and Jeeva KJ, headed by R Sarath have chosen the Malayalam films.
