Aravindante Athidhikal: Five reasons to watch the Vineeth Sreenivasan movie
Vineeth Sreenivasan debuted as an actor through the 2008 Malayalam film Cycle. It's been 10 years since then and in the meantime, he has transformed into an allrounder, who easily juggles singing, acting, direction, scriptwriting... all of it. His next film, Aravindante Athidhikal is sort of a celebration of completing a decade in Mollywood, with his uncle M Mohanan and father Sreenivasan also joining the fare. For Vineeth fans and others who are thinking of checking it out, here are five reasons to spend your money on its ticket.
1) A novel plot
The story takes place in a 150-year-old lodge outside Kerala, which is run by Sreenivasan's character! Vineeth plays the character of his foster son, named Aravindan. He is the one who canvasses the visitors, waiting in taxi and bus stands, to bring them to the lodge. Earlier, the film's director Mohanan had told us, the story portrays the unique relationship between the guests and this lodger.
2) The Vineeth Sreenivasan - Sreenivasan combo
Whenever they have come together on screen, audience have loved it. The film Makante Achan, Traffic, Oru Muthassi Gadha, for example. However, after Makante Achan of 2009 which was Vineeth's second movie, this is the next project that has both of them getting a fair share of time together on the big screen. And how will it appeal to the audience this time?
3) A Shaan Rahman musical
Most of their collaborations have ruled music charts and are still some of Mollywood's favourite go-to albums. The enthusiastic response to the jukebox of Aravindante Athidhikal is proof enough how Shaan often reserves his best for his best friend. Kanne Thaaimalare from the album is the song that won audiences' heart, most recently.
4) Director M Mohanan
'Katha Parayumbol,' 'Manikyakallu,' 'My God,' '916,'... He has offered some memorable movies to the industry already. And when he teams up with two of his family members, one can't help expecting yet another winner tale. His first film 'Katha Parayumbol' also had Sreenivasan in the lead role and till date, it is often termed one of the best films ever made in Malayalam.
5) The location - Mookambika!
The movie is set in Kollur which is the seat of the Mookambika Temple. Majority of the visitors there are Malayalis, but we haven't had many films with their stories set in this atmosphere. In the film, the loadge run by Sreenivasan's character Madhavan is named Mookambika Vilasam. 'Aravindante Athidhikal's' jukebox proves that its songs also have a Mookambika influence.
