AR Rahman is now composing the music for the
Fahadh Faasil film Malayankunju, directed by Sajimon Prabhakar. The movie, a survival drama, is scripted by
Mahesh Narayanan, who is also cranking the camera for the film.
Sajimon tells us, “Rahman sir wasn’t part of the film initially. Around the time the editing was over about two months ago, Fahadh made a suggestion on requesting Rahman sir to watch the film and do the music.” When the composer accepted the offer, the team was elated, says Saji.
“It is Fahadh who spoke to him. Malayankunju belongs to a genre that he hasn’t done before and so, he agreed to compose for it. Currently, he is working on the music,” Saji says.
The movie, which started rolling in January last year, had come to a halt midway as Fahadh met with an accident during the shoot. “It took him about three months to recover and soon after, we also had to face the lockdown. But eventually, we managed to wrap it up amid restrictions. We still have to finish its visual effects and are planning to release the film by February,” says Saji. Rahman is also composing for the Prithviraj-starrer Aadujeevitham and appearing in a song for the Mohanlal film Aaraattu.
