Appani Sarath plays a recluse who lives with bulls in his next Tamil film

is all set to work in yet another Tamil movie after Sandakozhi 2.

In the movie, directed by Mollywood filmmaker Vinod Guruvayoor, Sarath plays a recluse named Maada, whose days are mostly spent in the company of bulls, except when he goes for jallikattu, once a year. The film’s shoot will start on May 5.

Director Vinod tells us, “The film is the story of a Tamilian named Maada, who is interested in jallikattu. Maada is someone who has been working in the barn of a gounder, ever since childhood. No one knows where he came from. Only once in a year, during jallikattu, does he come out of the barn. And that isn’t easy, one has to earn enough for it. As many strong competitors also go for the event, Maada has to work on training his bulls too. The film shows Maada’s connection with bulls, how he encounters a situation in which he can’t make it to jallikattu.”

The movie’s shoot will be held at true-blue jallikattu venues, and will also have more of people connected with the sport appearing as actors, says the director. “Sarath will be in Pazhani from next week to train in the sport. We will be using bulls that take part in jallikattu for the shoot. Being with them is no easy task, as they don’t let you go near them, that easily,” he says.

Sarath’s look in the movie is also modelled after the body language of a bull, Vinod says. “Maada walks, sleeps and even fights like a bull, with his head. He is, more of less, a bull himself,” explains the director.
