EXCLUSIVE! Siddharth Anand Kumar: You can expect the kind of realism and intensity of ‘Drishyam’ in Tovino’s ‘Anveshippin Kandethum’

Tovino Thomas is on a winning streak, with a handful of thrilling projects in his pipeline. The actor will be next seen in ‘Anveshippin Kandethum’, an investigation thriller by Darwin Kuriakose. The film is slated for release on February 2, and the recently released teaser has added to the anticipation. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Siddharth Anand Kumar, one of the producers of ‘Anveshippin Kandethum', spills the beans about the film.

Tovino Thomas has a track record of delivering successful films, and the actor is not new to investigative thrillers either; case in point: ‘Forensic’. When asked what sets ‘Anveshippin Kandethum’ apart from it, Siddharth Anand Kumar shares, “It’s very much in the zone of ‘Forensic’, because it’s an investigation thriller. I find ‘Forensic’ to be a bit outlandish, so we have approached ‘Anveshippin Kandethum’ in a rather realistic way. The upcoming film is much more realistic and darker in tone.”

The producer also underlines that ‘Anveshippin Kandethum’ is a ‘pure investigative film. “I would say it is more in the true detective kind of space than anything else. The film follows the quest of a single police officer striving to solve a case and all the factors that try to dissolve him during that journey. It’s more realistic, which we believe makes it compelling. The Malayali audience also enjoys the thriller genre.”


He further drew a comparison between the celebrated ‘Drishyam’ franchise: “You feel like it's happening in front of you. It is a pure investigative film, and we believe there is an audience for this kind of cinema. You can expect the kind of realism and intensity of ‘Drishyam’ in Tovino’s ‘Anveshippin Kandethum’.”
