W hen it comes to portraying the different life stages of characters, Anoop Menon seems to be the go-to actor for Mollywood filmmakers. While his movie Pa.Va will have him play three different stages of his character’s life including that of an octogenarian, his upcoming release Pavada will see him in two avatar.
“The film will have me portray my character in two different stages of his life.

I play a 30-year-old professor and also a 65-year-old alcoholic in the movie,” says the actor. Anoop lauds its scribes Bipin Chandran and Shibin Francis for creating the character for the family drama. While Bipin Chandran was the scribe for 1983, Shibin Francis is penning Amal Neerad’s upcoming Dulquer Salmaan movie.
“I don’t know how the role will be received by the audience but from my point it’s easily the best I have done,” says the actor. “I could shift up a gear for the movie basically because it had depth and I could really sink my teeth into it as an actor.” Anoop also says that Prithviraj’s character in the film too is different from what he has done till now. “The characterisation and the emotions portrayed by Prithviraj is something he hasn’t attempted in his career. And it has come out really well,” says Anoop. “It’s the life story of a man and also a tale of friendships. Both those facets are explored brilliantly in the film.”
Anoop also has Malgudi Days gearing up for release this month in which he plays the role of a suspect on the run. While Pavada has an experienced cast and crew behind it, Malgudi... is helmed by three debutants — Vinod, Visakh and Vivek. “When these three young men met me and narrated the story, I told them there was a scope for a good film. When I asked as to who was going to direct it, they came forward to take up the task. I hope they deliver. They are an inspiration for newcomers to the film industry who have no experience.”
