Anasuya Bharadwaj files complaint against cybercrime over AI-morphed content - Reports
Tollywood actress and anchor Anasuya Bharadwaj has taken a strong step against online harassment.
Anasuya filed a police complaint after facing severe abuse on social media. According to her complaint this was not normal trolling. It included morphed photos along with AI-generated videos and sexual comments and even threats.
Reports from India TV says that Anasuya said these were shared widely to hurt her image and scare her. Cybercrime police registered an FIR against 42 individuals following her complaint.
The 'Pushpa' actor said this damaged her honour and made her feel unsafe. She also said this was not just mental torture.
Anasuya explained that it was a direct attack on her work and her public life along with her dignity as a woman.
The cybercrime police registered a case under strict laws. The FIR was filed under IPC sections including 75, 79, 336(4), 351 and 356.
The police also added IT Act sections 66E and 67. These sections are used in serious cases of cybercrime, sexual harassment and defamation.
The clip in question was from three years ago and had double-meaning jokes made at Raasi’s expense. Anasuya took responsibility and wrote a long note on X after facing several criticisms. She wrote, “Dear RAASI garu. My sincere apologies to you. In a show I did three years ago in a skit on not being able to speak Telugu properly I used your name to utter a double-meaning dialogue.”
The 'Bheeshma Parvam' actress added, “I should have confronted the people who wrote and directed this that day but I didn’t have the strength to do so at that time. That was a mistake. Please accept my apologies. I can’t go back and fix it now.”
Anasuya also spoke about how she changed over time. She wrote, “People change and evolve.” She said she had moved away from such content and was now being targeted for speaking about women’s safety. She ended by saying, “I am more stronger and empowered than before to question the narratives built around women’s bodies. Hope you understand and lend your support. Wishing you well ma’am.”Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the latest Hindi movies, upcoming Hindi movies in 2026 , and Telugu movies.”
