Amith Chakkalakkal to play a cop in investigation thriller 'Asthra'

Actor Amith Chakkalakkal will soon be playing a circle inspector in the upcoming crime investigation movie Asthra, directed by

Azad

Alavil.

Suhasini Kumaran

and Renu Sounder play the lead female characters in the movie, scripted by

Vinu K Mohan

and Jiju Raj. The movie’s switch-on function was recently held at Sulthan Bethery in Wayanad.

Director Azad says, “Amith’s character is Joshy Mathew, and we have given him a new, clean-shaven look for the movie. This was a subject that we wanted to do immediately in a foggy December, in the backdrop of Wayanad. We spoke to him in November and as he liked the character, he immediately agreed to do the film.” The movie has an out-and-out suspense feel to it, reveals the filmmaker. “We will also be shooting a song for it, abroad. We haven’t fixed the location yet,” he says.

Suhasini Kumaran plays the daughter of a tribal head in the film, says Azad. “Her name in the film is Kani. Actress Renu Sounder appears as her sister, in the story,” reveals Azad. Kalabhavan Shajohn, Senthil Krishna, Meghanadan, Santhosh Keezhattoor and Neena Kurup also play major roles in the movie.
