Malayalam filmmaker Alphonse Puthren has shared his review after watching Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest release ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. Featuring Alia Bhatt in the titular role, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ is loosely based on the book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’. The film was initially released in the cinemas in February and is currently streaming on an OTT platform. Alphonse Puthren, who happened to watch the film of late has heaped praises on the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, actor Alia Bhatt, the cast and crew, including Ajay Devgn, who appeared in an extended cameo role in the film.

In his latest social media post, Alphonse Puthren shared that he turned emotional watching ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, and also added that he has immense respect for Ganga Jagjivandas Kathiawadi, the original Gangubhai, on whom the film is made.
“Watched Gangubhai. Kick ass film by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. If I was in the jury. I would give 100 marks for the film, 100 Marks for Sanjay Leela Bhansali and 100 marks for Alia Bhatt . Cried a lot seeing the film . Respect to the Original Gangubhai. She came to become a film star but became a whole film. Super punch dialogue. Respect and love to the Cast and Crew. I loved Ajay Devgan’s performance. Thank you team. A must watch 👍👍👍👍👍 (sic),” Alphonse Puthren said in his note.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, Alphonse Puthren is currently working on the final post-production portions of his next titled ‘Gold’, that features Nayanthara and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles.
