Alappuzha Gymkhana’s OTT release: Naslen-led sports drama to start streaming on THIS date

After a promising theatrical run, the Malayalam sports drama ‘Alappuzha Gymkhana’ is gearing up for its digital debut. The film stars Naslen, alongside Lukman Avaran, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Sandeep Pradeep, Anagha Ravi, Franco Francis, Baby Jean, and Shiva Hariharan.

A coming-of-age tale set in Alappuzha’s boxing rings

Set in the picturesque yet modest coastal town of Alappuzha, the film revolves around five school-leaving friends at a crossroads in life.

With academic admissions looking bleak, the group discovers a possible alternative—sports quota entries. Their journey begins with a shared decision to pursue boxing, initially as a practical move, but soon it transforms into something much deeper.


A crisis happens, and it gets interesting

Under the guidance of a local coach and later a seasoned state-level boxer, the boys face the highs and lows of intensive training. Through bruises, bonding, and internal rivalries, they prepare themselves for the Kerala State Amateur Boxing Championship. What starts as a strategic choice for college admission becomes a path of self-discovery, character building, and redemption.

The audiography, raw, immersive, and at times overwhelming, places us right in the middle of sweaty gyms and crowded streets. The stunt choreography is electric, making the boxing sequences feel visceral and alive. Songs are rooted, catchy, and carry a local flavour that adds charm without overpowering. Alappuzha Gymkhana may not offer the highs of Thallumaala, nor does it aim to. This is a slice-of-life narrative about kids who dream in fragments and grow up learning that sometimes the greatest win is just to stay on your feet. More than a sports drama, it’s a ringside seat to youth, chaos, and coming of age. Messy, minimal, but meaningful.”

Where to watch this Naslen and Khalid Rahman film

Directed by Khalid Rahman, the film is available for streaming on SonyLIV starting June 13 in five languages: Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. Meanwhile, Khalid Rahman's previous outing was the Tovino Thomas starrer 'Thallumaala'. On the other hand, Naslen's previous hit film was the comedy entertainer film 'Premalu' which had Mamitha Baiju in lead role. Naslen will be next seen along with Kalyani Priyadarshan for a film.
