Ahead of Chingam 1, Mammootty and Mohanlal trend on Twitter, here’s the reason

Chingam 1 is observed as New Year according to the Malayalam calendar, and the auspicious day also marks the dawn of a new farming season in the state. The day is considered to be special for various reasons, and Keralites initiate new beginnings on the day. Chingam 1 falls on Wednesday (Aug 17) this year, and ahead of the auspicious day, Malayalam cinema’s biggest stars - Mammootty and Mohanlal are trending on the microblogging site Twitter.

Wondering what Mammootty and Mohanlal have to do with Chingam 1? Well, since Chingam 1 is a propitious day, many Malayalam films get announced, and new updates too come out. On Wednesday, movie buffs can expect an update from Mohanlal. A prominent producer who bankrolls for most of the Mohanlal movies has confirmed the same. “Announcement coming soon on 17th August,” he tweeted. If reports are to be believed, there will be an update on Mohanlal’s debut directorial ‘Barroz’, and ‘Empuraan’, which is helmed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, and ‘Ram’ directed by Jeethu Joseph.

Megastar Mammootty too is trending on Twitter, and as per the reports, the audience can expect an update on ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. The title announcement of Mammootty’s next with B Unnikrishnan too is expected on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Mohanlal is currently filming for ‘Ram’ with Jeethu Joseph. The team will wrap up the Kerala schedule this month and head to the UK in September to film the rest.
