It seems Adoor Gopalakrishnan, the ace icon of Malayalam film industry and a passionate lover of world classics is thoroughly disappoints with the way Indian television is treading. Recently, the director has expressed his deep contempt towards the substandard programs and serials shown on television.
While talking to the reporters at the 19th Kolkatta International Film Festival (KIFF), the veteran said that the programs telecasting on TV’s were dull and obnoxious.

“Unfortunately, the television has brought down the cultural level of the country, says Adoor. The director exhorts the young budding film makers to be a keen observer of life. “Film making is not at all an easy task. Infact, to become a filmmaker, one should have to develop interest in a number of things including reading, music and theatre arts,” says Adoor.
Nine films of Adoor are being screened in the retrospective segment of the Kolkatta International film festival
