Renowned filmmaker,
Adoor Gopalakrishnan has won the prestigious JC Daniel Award 2016 for his remarkable contribution to Malayalam film industry.
The award was announced by the Office of the Minister for Cinema, A K Balan in a statement released recently. The 75-year old director was selected for the award by a special panel headed by renowned film-maker KG George which also included directors Fazil, Kamal, and TK Rajeev Kumar.
The award comprising Rs 1 lakh and citation will be presented to Adoor during the State Film Award distribution function, which will be held at Thalassery.
The veteran was also honoured with Padmashri and Padma Vibhushan in 1984 and 2006 respectively.
