When it comes to bringing out the singer within Mollywood actors, Gopi Sunder is the man! The mentor of numerous leading men and women during their singing avatar recently used the voices of actresses Bhama, Meghna Raj, Ananya and Shwetha Menon for a song in the upcoming multi-heroine film 100 degree Celsius by Rakesh Gopan. The song, sung by the actresses along with the composer, is slated to be a typical entertainer.
Director Rakesh says it was Gopi who suggested using the actresses’ voice to add the X factor to the track. “The song is based on issues faced by women and how they can derive motivation to face them. Penned by Santosh Varma, we wanted to give it an extra zing,” Rakesh says.
While Meghna has sung in Kannada before, this is her first attempt in Malayalam. “We were slightly worried about how she will deliver, as the lyrics are in Malayalam. However, she picked it up quick and gave it her best,” the filmmaker reveals. He adds that though Shwetha Menon is a first time crooner, she also managed to render effortlessly in her own style.
Bhama had sung previously for a children’s film and Ananya had recited a poem for actress Sarayu’s directorial debut Pachcha. The film also has a fifth heroine, Aradhana, though she wasn’t part of the song.
