Actress Padmapriya and her partner Jasmine believes in equality. The actress recently took to her social media handle and said that her spouse wants to change his surname by adding Padmapriya's name to it, just like she has done after getting married to Jasmine. The actress has asked the election commission of India to help them, dealing the issue.
She took to her social media handle and wrote, "@Jasmine441 wants his wife @padmprya name on his voter ID like she has her hubby's.@ECISVEEP can u please help make #indianelection less #patriarchal, so my husband feels more equal!"

In India, women are expected to take up their husband’s last name after marriage while the same is not applicable to the men. Actress Padmapriya and her spouse’s attempts of changing traditions of the society seem to be in the right direction.
