Actor and TV host
Anu Joseph's journey with her cats began during the lockdown. Since then, she has raised many cats and is now building them a house worth around Rs 1 crore. This cattery, which only has interior work awaiting completion, will house 27 cats she is raising and will also give an opportunity for people who love cats to see them. She is mostly raising Bengal cats, which have a high life expectancy and are very friendly.
"During the lockdown, I got Simba, who was just a few days old and not a Bengal cat. Raising her took most of my time and I didn't even realise the difficulties of lockdown," says Anu, as she speaks about her journey with cats, who have interesting names, such as Pablo Escobar, Lucy, Natasha, Spider.
Anu also plans to live-stream her cats' lives in the new house, which she hopes will appeal cat loving audiences. "In the first house, it became difficult to manage as I got more cats. After I moved, we set up a small cattery. Now, we are making a bigger one and the structure is mostly complete," she says.
"I didn't get bogged down by the lockdown. I was always busy with the cats. Simba is still with me. She was the one who led me to like cats. Earlier, I never had the time or opportunity to take care of a pet. But after Simba, it became a part of my life. Without even realising it, more and more cats came into my care," adds Anu.
