‘Aadujeevitham’ director Blessy disappointed over A.R. Rahman’s snub at Kerala State Film Awards 2024

Director Blessy, who won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Director for ‘Aadujeevitham’, voiced his disappointment regarding the jury’s decision to overlook A.R. Rahman’s work in the film.

Speaking to Manorama News after the awards were announced, Blessy emphasized the crucial role that music played in the film. "The music was the heart of the film, deeply woven into the entire scripting process. We chose A.R. Rahman because the music was a cornerstone of the movie," he remarked, highlighting the extensive effort Rahman put into crafting the film's background score.

Blessy shared that Rahman initially composed a version of the score but later revised it, demonstrating the dedication to perfecting the film’s musical elements. Blessy further said, “I am sure A.R. Rahman would not even be bothered about this aspect. I am, since I believe it is the soul of the film."

‘Aadujeevitham’ emerged as a big winner at the 2024 Kerala State Film Awards, sweeping nine awards, including Best Actor for Prithviraj Sukumaran and Best Cinematographer for K.S. Sunil. The jury, however, chose to honor Blessy as Best Director, praising his ability to reveal the unknown and terrifying world of emigrant life with aesthetic authenticity and technical excellence.

Prithviraj, who won the Best Actor award, also expressed that ‘Aadujeevitham’ deserved all the recognition it has been receiving.

'Aadujeevitham' hit the big screens on March 28 and the movie based on real-life, told the heart-wrenching story of Indian migrant worker named Najeeb Muhammed. The movie also featured the actress Amala Paul in the female lead as Najeeb's wife.

On the other hand, PrithvirJ's previous outing was with the comedy entertainer 'Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil' which turned out to be a superhit.
