The 28th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) will be honouring iconic filmmaker Mrinal Sen. The organizers have confirmed that they will be screening five films of the legendary filmmaker at the festival, as part of his birth centenary. The films that will be featured are ‘Bhuvan Shome’, ‘Calcutta 71’, ‘Akaler Sandhane’, ‘Padatik’, and, ‘Ek Din Pratidin’. Mrinal Sen’s film will be featured in the 'World Within World Without: Mrinal Sen Retrospective' segment.

In a note shared on social media, the organisers said, “The 28th IFFK intends to honour iconic filmmaker Mrinal Sen on his birth centenary by screening five of his films during the festival. Featured films are Mr. Shome/Bhuvan Shome, Calcutta 71, In Search of Famine/ Akaler Sandhane, The Guerilla Fighter/ Padatik, And Quiet Rolls the Dawn/Ek Din Pratidin, presented in the 'World Within World Without: Mrinal Sen Retrospective' segment.#IFFK #28IFFK #IFFK2023.”

The International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) is one of India's prominent film festivals hosted by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy on behalf of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala. The festival will commence on December 8 and wraps on December 15. Held in Thiruvananthapuram - the capital city of Kerala ever year, during the month of December, IFFK aims to showcase best films from across the world.
