Finally, after 8 days, the 27th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) concluded on the last day, December 16, 2022. Over 184 movies from different countries were screened at the 27th edition of IFFK and an awards ceremony was conducted on the last day.
The Hungarian filmmaker Bela Tarr was bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement Award which was presented by Kerala’s Minister for Culture VN Vasavan. Surprisingly, it was the first visit of Bela Tarr to the ‘God’s own country’, Kerala.

Best Malayalam Film: Ariyippu directed by Mahesh Narayanan
Best Asian Film: Alam directed by Firas Khoury
Rajata Chakoram for Best Director: Tayfun Pirselimoglu for Kerr
FFSI K.R. Mohanan Award for Best Debut Director (India): Siddharth Chauhan for Amar Colony
Lifetime Achievement Award: Bela Tarr
Audience poll award: Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery
Reportedly, Mammootty’s ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’ was the film that had the most demand at the 27th IFFK. The film is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery and also got highly positive reviews from the audience at the IFFK. The film will be reportedly hitting the big screens soon.
Kunchacko Boban - Mahesh Narayanan’s ‘Ariyippu’ aka ‘Declaration’ also got several positive reviews during its screening. ‘Ariyippu’ is available on a popular OTT platform.
