22FK to be remade in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu?

If all goes well, Aashiq Abu’s 22 Female Kottayam (22FK) will soon be remade into Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Yesteryear actor-turned-producer Rajkumar has confirmed the news. “Yes, I have bought the rights of the film in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The script will be reworked to suit the sensibilities of the audience but the story will be the same,” he says.
Rajkumar’s wife and yesteryear actress, Sreepriya, will direct all the three versions.“Sreepriya has acted in nearly 300 films and has directed a handful of them in Tamil. She was impressed with the subject and is eager to start work soon,” says Rajkumar.
The cast for all the three versions will be different from that of Malayalam, and they are on the lookout for an actress who is familiar to all the three industries. “The casting of the lead actor for the three versions is going to be a tough task. Fahadh Faasil did a brilliant job in Malayalam but most actors in other film industries might have reservations about doing an anti-hero role with such a climax,” says Rajkumar, who is hoping to rope in a Bollywood actor to play the lead in the Hindi version.
He feels that the film is especially relevant in the current age where India has lost its image globally in the wake of the Delhi rape incident. “In such a context, a film like 22FK should be lauded, as the woman fights for a cause all by herself,” he says.
Meanwhile, O G Sunil, the producer of 22FK, said that he will be producing the Kannada version of the film, which will reportedly be helmed by a well-known director from Mollywood.
