Kannada actress Milana Pournami is all set to make her debut in Mollywood through Shanil Mohammed’s Avarude Raavukal. While she has acted in six Kannada movies including Nam Duniya Nam Style, the actress found it a totally new experience working in Malayalam. “It’s a fresh experience for me as the work culture is totally different from what I am used to in the Kannada film industry,” says Milana.
The actress plays Meghana, a call centre employee and the love interest of Vinay Forrt’s character in the movie that also has
Unni Mukundan and Asif Ali.
“I have not played such a character before. It’s a mature and dignified role of sorts. In Kannada industry, we get to play glam roles but in Malayalam, strong characters are scripted for actresses,” she says.
On how she landed the role, she says, “I have done a couple of Malayalam ads and got to know that the team was looking for an actress. So, I sent an audition clip via the phone. They obviously liked it and wanted me to join the sets in two days.”
While she was initially apprehensive about working in the film because of the language, the team made her feel at ease, she says.
“Communication was tough but the entire crew was young and they really helped me. Shanil’s direction also helped as he was clear about what he wanted. I just went with what he instructed,” she explains.
