Did you know Urvashi won the Kerala State Film Award for best actress five times?

Urvashi who started her career as an actor at the age of 8, has been doing movies ever since and continues the journey. Sumathi, Anandavalli, Geetha, Bindu, Kanchana, Kanaka, Radhika, Aasha, Devi, Savithri, Revathy; she has given life to hundreds of characters as they aren't devoid of depth. Her versatility and talent still remains unmatched. Urvashi’s acting chops hardly need any introduction, and one won’t find a Keralite, who is not a fan of the stupendous talent. But how well do you think, you know the actress? Did you know that she has won the Kerala State Film Awards for Best actress, five times? Yes, that’s true. Urvashi became the only actress from M-Town to receive the prestigious award numerous times.

She won the first state award in 1989 for her performance in ‘Mazhavilkavadi’ and ‘Varthamana Kalam’. The next year, in 1990, she received her second award for best actress for the 'Thalayanamanthram’. Urvashi didn’t let the prestigious award pass on to any one else, as she bagged the Kerala State film award in 1991 again. This time, she was awarded for not just one movie but four - ‘Kadinjool Kalyanam’, ‘Kakkathollayiram’, ‘Bharatham’, and ‘Mukha Chithram’.

Four years later, in 1995 she was again honoured with the best actress award for her performance in ‘Kazhakam’. In 2006, she bagged the fifth award for best actress for her role in ‘ Madhuchandralekha’.
