‘Thunivu’ Kerala box office: Check out how much the Ajith starrer collected on its opening day

Finally, the fans of the superstars Ajith and Vijay have witnessed the biggest box office battle as the most anticipated films ‘Thunivu’ and ‘Varisu’ hit the big screens on January 11.

According to the Twitter forums that track box office collection figures, Ajith starrer ‘Thunivu’ has minted only Rs 95.35 lakhs at the Kerala box office and it is really lower than what the Vijay starrer ‘Varisu’ earned on its opening day which reportedly stands at Rs 2.70 crores.

Reportedly, Ajith’s ‘Thunivu’ had tracked shows of around 780 screens with an occupancy of around 34.68 percent. It can be said that ‘Thunivu’ had a decent opening at the Kerala box office.

‘Thunivu’ hit the big screens along with ‘Varisu’ on January 11 and both films got only average reviews from even hardcore fans of both superstars. ‘Thunivu’ was touted to be a bank heist thriller and on the opposite side, ‘Varisu’ is a family drama film coupled with Vijay’s stylish screen presence and action.

‘Thunivu’ was directed by H. Vinoth and the story revolved around a criminal mastermind and his team forming a plan to commit bank heists across Chennai. The script was also written by the writer H Vinoth and the movie featured the actors Ajith Kumar, John Kokken, Prem Kumar, and Manju Warrier in significant roles.
