Barroz box office collection day 1: Mohanlal's film collects Rs 3.65 crore on opening day

Mohanlal's directorial debut, 'Barroz', was released on December 25, 2024, but has had a modest opening at the box office, especially for a holiday release. The film earned approximately Rs 3.65 crore on its first day, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Despite high expectations due to its Christmas release, the film's performance fell short of the numbers at the box office.

On its opening day, 'Barroz' recorded an overall occupancy of 57.22% in Malayalam screenings, with varying attendance throughout the day. Morning shows saw a 49.56% occupancy, which increased to 59.39% in the afternoon and peaked at 65.36% during the evening shows before dropping to 54.55% at night. The film also had a disappointing 19.99% occupancy in Tamil screenings.

'Barroz', which is rumoured to have been made on a budget of around Rs 100 crore, features Mohanlal alongside actors Maya Rao West, Ignacio Mateos, Kallirroi Tziafeta, and Cesar Lorente Raton in key roles. The film is a children's fantasy drama centred around a ghost trying to protect Vasco Da Gama's treasure from a group of children.

The film faces tough competition from other releases like 'Mufasa: The Lion King' and 'Pushpa 2: The Rule', which continues to perform well in theatres weeks after its release.

The trailer of the film created a significant buzz before its release with its appealing trailer, 'Barroz' struggled to attract audiences in the same way as Mohanlal's previous films.
