Indrans starrer ‘Aashan’, which hit the big screens on February 5, is receiving a heartwarming response in the theatres. The film, directed by
Johnpaul George, is slowly picking up the pace and bringing in more audience. Though the collections of the film cannot be compared with the star vehicle films, ‘Aashan’ continues to earn money and is now following an upward trajectory.
On Wednesday, February 11, ‘Aashan’ collected Rs 10 lakh, as per Sacnilk. This is still hopeful for the film, as it shows a marginal improvement from the previous day’s collection of Rs 9 lakh. By Wednesday, the worldwide box office collection of ‘Aashan’ had crossed Rs 1.09 crore.
Indrans had earlier urged moviebuffs to watch the film in theatres. The actor expressed that the film is a hope for many newcomers who have worked in it. “Not just me, more than a hundred newcomers have acted in this movie. ‘Aashan’ is the hope and dream of many youngsters. Do not make 'Aashaan' end up like 'Guppy'. That is why I made a video like this for the first time,” he said. For the unversed, ‘Guppy’ is the debut directorial of Johnpaul George, and the film failed at the box office, despite positive feedback from the audience.
All you need to know about ‘Aashan’
Helmed by Johnpaul George,, ‘Aashan’ features Indrans in the titular role. The film-within-a-film concept movie is a heartwarming comedy-drama. The film follows a group of cinephiles chasing their dreams. Actors Joemon Jyothir, Shobi Thilakan, Bibin Perumpally, Abin Bino, Kudassanad Kanakam, and Madan Gowri appear in key roles.
TOI has ranked the film 3 out of 5, and the review reads, “Indrans is the film’s emotional anchor. As Aashaan, he brings quiet dignity and warmth to a character that could have easily slipped into caricature. His performance is restrained, sincere, and deeply affecting, reminding us why he remains one of Malayalam cinema’s most dependable actors.”
